I wanted to eat it so I used convenience-store tofu to make fried tofu and made something similar. Boil the water and dissolve the salt in it. The ingredients needed to make Salty Fried Firm Tofu:
- Prepare 200 grams ☆ Firm tofu
- Prepare 1 dash less than 2 teaspoons ☆ Mayonnaise (low-fat mayonnaise is fine)

- Prepare 1/2 tsp ☆ Salt (please read the hints)
- Take 2 tbsp ☆ Katakuriko
- Get 1 just under 1 cm ☆ Garlic (from a tube)

- Get 1 Cake flour (batter)
- Prepare 1 Frying oil (canola, olive oil)
You cannot use soft/silken or medium tofu in this recipe, or it will fall apart in the skillet. It helps the tofu to get crispy. You can use arrowroot powder instead if you are sensitive to corn products. Cajun seasoning and salt bring a lot of flavor and a bit of heat.
Steps to make Salty Fried Firm Tofu:
- Thoroughly drain the water from the firm tofu. Add the ☆ ingredients into a bowl and mix together. Sprinkle cake flour onto a plate. Form the mixture in the bowl into bite-size balls and roll around on the plate to cover them with the flour.
- Add plenty of oil into a frying pan and heat. Form the balls into nugget shapes and fry in the oil.
- To remove the moisture from the tofu I place the tofu onto a plate without plastic wrap and heat in a microwave at 600W for 2 minutes. Place a chopping board or slightly heavy bowl on top of the tofu when it has cooled.
- The batter is too soft so you can wet your hands, shape it into a ball, roll on the plate and fry it like that.
- Ready to serve and ENJOY!

Gently pat dry the tofu, and coat the tofu in tapioca starch. It's best to use firm or extra-firm tofu for deep-frying, not soft silken tofu. Firm tofu will hold its shape and brown better when fried.
