- Take 6 eggs
- Take 1 onion large (finely chopped)
- Get 4 tablespoons finely chopped coriander leaves

- Get 1/2 teaspoon red chillie powder
- Prepare 4 tablespoons milk

- Get 1 large boiled potato (cut into 8 cubes)
- Make ready 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- Prepare 2 bay leaf
- Get 5 tablespoons onion paste
- Get 4 tablespoons tomato puree
- Take 2 teaspoon ginger and garlic paste
- Make ready 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- Take 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- Prepare 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
- Get 1 teaspoon sugar
- Make ready to taste Salt
- Take 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
- Make ready 4 tablespoons mustard oil
Add the fried egg pieces into the pan once bubble starts appearing. It was a welcome change to the normal Dimer Jhol that we have at least once a week. Ma forgot a few ingredients and a few proportions. I referred to Sandeepa's recipe for the egg cakes and made the gravy as per my own Egg curry recipe: Ingredients: For the Steamed Egg Cakes or Dimer Dhoka.
Instructions to make Dimer dhoka / steamed egg cake curry:
- For making dimer dhoka or steamed egg cake……
- Beat the eggs in a large bowl. Add the chopped onions, chilli, coriander, baking powder, milk and salt. Beat well.
- Grease an air tight container and poured the egg mixture. Place the container in the pressure cooker.
- Pour some water till half of the container and steam in a cooker till the first whistle and few mins on low heat.
- Let the pressure release of it's own. Demould the steamed egg cake. Cut into the squares.
- For making the curry…….
- Heat oil in a wok. Fry the boiled potatoes for few minutes and keep aside.
- In same oil add cumin seeds and bay leaf. As soon add onion paste fry few minutes, add the ginger and garlic paste along with the green chillies.
- Add tomato puree and saute till oil separates. Add in cumin powder, coriander powder and Red chilli powder.
- Add fried potatoes and saute.
- At this point add 1 and 1/2 cup of water. Adjust salt and let the gravy come to a nice boil.
- Add the cubed egg cakes and garam masala powder, keep the flame at medium and let the gravy boil for 3 - 4 minutes on medium heat. Adjust consistency of the gravy according to your preference.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve with steamed RICE or ROTI.
- Ready to serve and ENJOY!

Take a heavy bottomed Dutch oven style cooking vessel and place a bowl upside down into it. Fill the pot with water only up to ¼th of the bowl. Place the whisked egg filled lunch box on that upside down box and close the lid of the pot.
