Kakdi cha Dhondas is a regular in Konkan/ Goan cuisine and actually easy to prepare. It is also one of my favourite naivedyam recipes. There are many variations to the recipes, I'm posting my version to Kakdi cha Dhondas below.

Steps to make Cucumber cake kakdicha_sandan/dhondas/Steamed_cake:
  1. Take a mixing bowl, add grated cucumber along with its water, add powdered jaggery & mix well till the jaggery dissolves in it completely.
  2. Add grated coconut to it. Mix well & keep aside to rest for 1/2 an hour.
  3. Heat a pan, add 1tsp ghee and roast the idli rawa on a low flame for just 2mins & Keep aside to cool.
  4. When it cools down, add this to the cucumber 🥒 mixture, mix and rest for another half an hour.
  5. Add cardamon powder, chopped dry nuts and mix well.
  6. Meanwhile, heat a steamer by adding 3cups of water on a low flame for 5-7mins.
  7. Take a tin and grease it with ghee and add d cucumber mixture in it & spread all over evenly.(garnish on top with dry fruits,if u wish too)
  8. Keep the tin in the steamer and steam for 20-25mins on a medium flame and check with a knife if it comes clean den Switch off the flame.(if not then steam for another 5-10mins)
  9. After 5mins,take out the tin and keep it cool for abt 10mins.
  10. Take a knife and loose the edges from the sides,and remove on a plate. Steamed cucumber 🥒 cake is ready to eat
  11. Cut into pieces and grab it.
  12. Note:-The cucumber releases water and it's more enough to mix the ingredients with it.(If the water is less den u may add some amount of water or milk to it) The steamed cake colour may be vary depending upon the jaggery u use.(Have used organic jaggery in it)
  13. Ready to serve and ENJOY!
