I have used a very thin layer of custard on this trifle recipe, I would highly recommend a thicker layer of custard over the cake as custard and cake mix tastes really good. The cake layer for the trifle pudding shown here is dry which makes cutting and scooping into the trifle clean and easy. Press slices up along the sides of the bowl (see photo below). In medium bowl, beat pudding mix, vanilla, milk and sour cream with electric mixer on medium speed until soft pudding forms.

  6. Take 70 gms flaked almonds toasted

A light, fresh, and cool summer dessert. Angel food cake, fresh berries, and whipped topping, layered in a trifle bowl, makes for a pretty presentation; then you can see the layers of the dessert. This is a great Fourth of July red, white, and blue dessert. This is my family's favorite summer dessert.

Instructions to make Very easy trifle:
  1. Line a pudding bowl with the Madelines (I used a cut glass trifle bowl but any pretty bowl will do. Use enough cake to cover the bottom of the bowl.
  2. Pour 2 or 3 tbs of Cointreau over the cake and leave to soak for a few minutes.
  3. Cover the cake with a layer of custard.
  4. Arrange a layer of fruit on the custard. I used raspberries. Their tartness goes well with the sweet custard and cake.
  5. Add a dash of vanilla to the cream and whip to soft peaks.
  6. Pour the cream on top of the trifle and top with toasted flaked almonds.
  7. Voila pudding!
  8. Ready to serve and ENJOY!

This is a great Fourth of July red, white, and blue dessert. This is my family's favorite summer dessert. Using a knife, cut the baked cake into small cubes, about one inch in size. Take half of the cut cubes and place then in a trifle bowl, then use half of the strawberries and glaze to cover the cubes. Mixed berry trifle is the perfect low key summer dessert, and it is made with angel food cake, sweet creamy filling and strawberries, blueberries and raspberries.
